Mazda 2010 cars

November 6th, 2009

Mazda comes in 2010 with new version of established models, and also we write an article about the Mazda concepts, and we hope that Mazda will be inspired more and more from these concepts.

Mazda is focused on making cars that achieve harmony between Mazda’s hallmark driving pleasure and environmental and safety performance.

2010 Mazda CX-7

After a successful launch in North America in 2006, sales have expanded to include Japan and Europe in 2007. Two years later, total sales have exceeded 165,000 units (from December 2008) and the Mazda CX7 has won more than 10 global automotive awards.

As the CX-7 has seen few changes since its market introduction in 2006, the 2010 model’s revised front and rear fascias represent a significant mid-cycle freshening, as well as an expansion of the design cues applied to the 2009 MX-5 Miata, RX-8, and 6 sedan.

cx-7 12321

The big news for 2010 is that the CX-7 is getting a new 2.5-liter normally-aspirated four-cylinder model (the same engine is employed in the 2010 Mazda6 and Mazda3). So-equipped, the CX-7 generates 161 horsepower (at 6000 rpm) and maximum torque of 161 pound-feet of torque (at 3500 rpm). The turbocharged, 244-horsepower 2.3-liter engine remains unchanged.

The CX-7’s exterior and interior restyling brings it in line with Mazda’s new design direction, the hallmark of which is the smile-shaped grille. Mazda says the CX-7’s body has been enhanced to increase rigidity and lower wind and other noise. The suspension has been slightly retuned.

At 184 inches long and 73.7 inches wide, the CX-7 is comparable to other midsize crossovers, though it’s relatively narrow and more likely than most to be called a wagon.

The well-equipped base i SV trim includes 17-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning, full power accessories, cruise control, a six-way manually adjustable driver seat, a tilt-telescoping steering wheel and a four-speaker CD stereo with an auxiliary audio jack. The i Sport adds privacy-tint rear glass, a leather-wrapped steering wheel/gearshift knob and Bluetooth connectivity.

cx-7 22321

The s Touring model adds a turbocharged engine, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust outlets, leather upholstery, an eight-way power driver seat, heated front seats and a rear cargo cover. The top-of-the-line s Grand Touring features 19-inch alloy wheels, automatic xenon headlights, foglights, rain-sensing wipers, a sunroof, heated exterior mirrors, automatic climate control, a navigation system, keyless ignition/entry, a rearview camera, electroluminescent gauges, distinct leather upholstery, driver seat memory settings, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a four-way power passenger seat and an upgraded Bose audio system with satellite radio and a six-CD changer.

2010 Mazda CX-9

The 2010 Mazda CX-9 has a sporty, aggressive appearance, with oversize wheels and a rakish wagon look; the rather low, curvy snout gives it a curvier, more carlike silhouette from the front than most other crossovers. For 2010, the CX-9 receives slightly different styling at the front, along with redesigned side mirrors, plus additional chrome plating for some instrument panel and door panel edges.

mazda-cx9 2010111

For the 2010 model year, the CX-9 seven-seat crossover gets its most significant update since 2008, when its V-6 engine grew in size from 3.5 to 3.7 liters. Available with front- or all-wheel drive, the CX-9 competes with the Chevrolet Traverse, Hyundai Veracruz and Toyota Highlander.

Toyota 2010 cars

November 3rd, 2009

I write articles about the 2010 cars from Audi, BMW and Mercedes, now it’s time to write articles about the Japaneses manufacturers, and I start with the biggest cars manufacturers, and this is Toyota.

Toyota Motor Corporation is a multinational corporation headquartered in Japan, and the world’s largest automaker. Toyota employs approximately 320,808 people worldwide.

The company was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1937 as a spinoff from his father’s company Toyota Industries to create automobiles. Three years earlier, in 1934, while still a department of Toyota Industries, it created its first product, the Type A engine, and, in 1936, its first passenger car, the Toyota AA. Toyota also owns and operates Lexus and Scion brands and has a majority shareholding stake in Daihatsu and Hino Motors, and minority shareholdings in Fuji Heavy Industries, Isuzu Motors, Yamaha Motors, and Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation.

2010 Toyota 4Runner

Toyota is introducing a redesigned 4Runner whose only concession to the changing times is the deletion of a V-8 engine from the options list.

2010 Toyota 4Runner 01

The 2010 4Runner is designed with outdoor enthusiasts and family adventures in mind. Now in its fifth generation, the 4Runner is far more rugged than the Camry-based Highlander crossover and more versatile than the two-door FJ Cruiser. Toyota offers the 4Runner in three distinct models, each aimed at buyers with different lifestyle priorities.

  • For those who want maximum economy, there’s the SR5. It comes with a four-cylinder engine that gets 23 mpg on the highway and is available in either two- or four-wheel drive, with minimal frills.
  • For those who want a touch of luxury, there is the Limited model, which offers amenities like leather seating, full-time four-wheel drive, a 15-speaker audio system, 20-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and color-keyed exterior styling with chrome accents.
  • Finally, the Trail Edition is for the true outdoor recreationalist. It combines a part-time four-wheel-drive system with advanced electronic enhancements that allow the user to dial in off-road driving control based on the nature of the terrain. It’s aimed at buyers who want something as capable as the FJ Cruiser but with four doors and more cargo room.

2010 Toyota 4Runner 02

A wide range of two-wheel-drive and part-time and full-time four-wheel-drive powertrain options are available, with the 4Runner Limited topping the off-road range with full-time four-wheel drive, a locking center differential and a three-mode console-mounted switch. To help increase off-road grip, all 4×4 models get a standard A-TRAC force distribution system, ensuring any one wheels with grip gets the power. A Crawl Control system is also standard on Trail grade models, which helps keep vehicle speed low for navigating particularly tricky or steep terrain.

Luxury features will not all vanish, though, with keyless start, 20-inch wheels, nav with satellite traffic info, and Bluetooth and USB connectivity making the order sheet.

2010 Toyota Avalon

The Avalon comes in two different models – the Avalon XL and the Avalon XLS with elegant design and impressive comfort. While each of these cars is unique, both offer a number of features that make them head of their class. All models are equipped with a front wheel drive and are powered by a 3.5 Liter V6 engine that is rated at 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. All Avalon models are equipped with a six speed automatic transmission.

Mercedes 2010 cars

October 29th, 2009

Because we wrote about the Audi and BMW cars from 2010, now, it’s time to write what’s next for 2010 Mercedes Benz.

Mercedes Benz is the most famous brand of German car manufacturers, and of course is the brand that requires the utmost respect in the world of luxury cars.

I start the article with a brief history of the brand, namely Mercedes-Benz is a German manufacturer of cars, buses and trucks. The first car produced under the Mercedes Benz name was produced in 1926 following the merger of Karl Benz’s and Gottlieb Daimler’s companies into the Daimler-Benz company. Over time Mercedes cars were noted by the quality and durability of their machines.
In this article I describe the new cars from Mercedes for 2010.
2010 Mercedes C Class

Fans of ultra-high performance have been thrilled by the AMG versions, which boast blistering acceleration and tenacious handling along with tastefully sporty styling accents.
Invariably, the C-Class is cross-shopped with its German rivals, the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series. 2010 Mercedes C Class
The 2010 Mercedes C-Class family is packed with innovative extras and sporty details. The foglamps, integrated with the front air dam, create a slightly different take on the C-Class face. Hard- finished laurel wood trim graces the interiors of the C-Sedans and the Sport Wagon. Rich wood is also a new interior option for the Sports Coupe, in which textured aluminum trim is standard. An optional panorama sunroof lets light into the Sports Coupe. And every internal control and switch is carefully placed, so you can concentrate on driving.

The CL550 4Matic, CL600, CL63 AMG, and CL65 AMG all include Active Curve Bi-Xenon headlights, sunroof, and a Harman Kardon LOGIC7 audio system. The CL550 4Matic is powered by a 382 hp 5.5-liter V8 engine and seven-speed automatic transmission with Touchshift manual shift control. Mazda Concept Cars

October 26th, 2009

After writing an article of the concept car from Nissan, came among other Japanese companies, namely Mazda. A company that is becoming more successful, a brand that in 2007 sold more than 1.3 million cars annually.

Like any type of car manufacturers, and those of Mazda future projects, projects for inspiration or projects which give them “life”. Mazda is focused on making cars that achieve harmony between Mazda’s hallmark driving pleasure and environmental and safety performance. In this article you can read about the future projects of the Mazda.

Mazda Kazamai concept car

Kazamai, which means “swirling crosswinds” in Japanese, shows the design inspiration traces from the Mazda Nagare Concept. The Kazamai name was chosen to express the powerful yet nimble character of this stylish and compact crossover.

The concept is based on Mazda’s long-term vision for technology development, Sustainable Zoom-Zoom, which aims to provide a unique balance between sporty driving fun and superior environmental and safety performance. More down to earth, the car also has a five-point grille, accentuated front-wheel arches over 22-inch wheels, and a sleek roof line.

With a width of 1,930mm and a length of 4,520mm, it is slightly larger than the current Mazda3, with room for SUV comfort and functionality on the inside.

Mazda Kazamai concept car 01

The aim was to make the Kazamai’s aerodynamics more than 10% better than other vehicles in its class, and to make more aerodynamics, the designers choose to make a flat floor panel, a rear diffuser, and a low roof line.

To reduce the bodyweight, they use aluminium alloys for the hood, chassis and engine block, and the aim is to make it 100 kilograms lighter than similar models by employing plastics for the panels, fenders and the engine cover.

The engine will be an 2.0-liter direct-injection petrol engine, which Mazda engineers are currently developing, engine which is based on the current Mazda CX-7 engine, but the future engine for Mazda Kazamai will have an advanced technologies to minimize energy loss and vastly improved thermal efficiency, including combustion control technology and variable valve control.

Also the engine will be coupled with six-speed automatic transmission, and the aim for this combination is to deliver an estimated 30 percent improvement in fuel consumption.

Active safety features include roll stability control, blind spot monitoring to assist lane change, a pre-crash safety system and advanced dynamic stability control (DSC) to support the driver.

VW E-Up! Concept city car concept

This is the so-called €8500 electric car from Volkswagen. Dubbed E-up, the new car shows us how the ‘car of tomorrow’ will look like and promises to be a real hit in 2011, when it will hit the dealerships. According to the manufacturer, the new car features an 82 hp (60 kW) electric motor capable to offer a range of 130 km and a top speed of 135 km/h.

The car is small – under 10.5 feet (3.19 meters) in length – and will seat four occupants in a 3+1 arrangement. Top speed is listed at just under 85 miles per hour (135 km/h) and the run to 60 mph will take about 11 seconds while the city-centric zero to 30 mph is dispatched in just 3.5 seconds.

VW E-Up! Concept city car concept 01

The car`s low weight is quite astounding, given the fact that 240 kilograms are taken up by the lithium-ion battery. The implemented battery`s energy capacity of 18 kilowatt-hours (kWh) enables driving distances of up to 130 kilometres, depending on driving style – enough for the city and the drives of most commuters. The E-Up! will be “refueled” in the garage at home, in a parking structure or on the road at one of the future municipal recharging stations that will be enabled by chip card. Depending on the available charging infrastructure and the battery`s momentary charge state, the storage battery could be charged to up to 80 percent of its total capacity within an hour.

VW E-Up! Concept city car concept 02

The E-Up! emphatically demonstrates that emission-free Volkswagens will be anything but lacking in emotion. Responsible for this, once again, is the team led by Group Chief Designer Walter de Silva. Together with Klaus Bischoff (Chief Designer, Volkswagen Brand) and Flavio Manzoni (Head of Creative Design, Volkswagen Group), he developed a layout for the E-Up! that reflects the visual bandwidth of the future New Small Family. The E-Up! bears a resemblance to previously presented concept vehicles of this new model series – the Up! (city specialist), Space-Up! (microvan) and Space-Up Blue! (fuel cell powered van) – it represents a design stage that reflects the future production car even more closely.

Three-wheels vehicles

October 9th, 2009

A three wheeled car is an automobile having either one wheel in the front for steering and two at the rear for power, two in the front for steering and one in the rear for power, or any other combination of layouts.

Having one wheel in front and two in the rear for power reduces the cost of the steering mechanism, but greatly decreases stability. However, a configuration of two wheels in the front and one wheel at the back has many strong proponents among automotive designers and enthusiasts. Two advantages are its improved aerodynamics, and that it readily enables small lightweight motorcycle powerplants and rear wheels to be used.

Like four wheels cars, three wheels cars can have an electric engine and can be in the same time green cars.

A three-wheeler car from Venture

Venture develop a car for two passenger, three-wheeled vehicle powered by either a pure plug-in electric or plug-in hybrid petrol-electric powertrain. The name of the car is VentureOne, and the model is designed and built on the existing Carver three-wheeler already available in Europe.

A three-wheeler car from Venture 01

Even if the car has a single front wheel, VentureOne has more in common with a conventional car than a motorcycle due to the fully enclosed cabin, upright seating position, steering wheel, foot pedals and gear stick.

The VentureOne will be available in three configurations including the Venture d50 Hybrid Drive which has a 50 kW powertrain, the faster Venture Q100 Hybrid Drive which has a 100 kW powertrain (giving the Q100 a 120 mph / 193 km/h top speed!) and the all-electric Venture EV which has a 40 kW powertrain and reduced range, but zero emissions. In addition to the low-emission, flex-fuel Hybrid model, a zero-emission all-electric version is also being developed that will have an all-electric range of nearly 200 miles.

A three-wheeler car from Venture 02

Safety features being integrated into the design include a chrome-moly steel roll-cage, collapsible steering column, side impact rails, driver’s airbag and break-away engine mount. Three-point driver and passenger seatbelts, safety glass, digital traction control and ABS are all standard safety elements.

Brontes three-wheeled vehicle with zero emissions

This car is a concept car called Brontes, and it’s designed by Spanish car designer Marco Aurelio Galan Henriquez. Brontes runs on electric engine giving you a sustainable city driving. This environmentally friendly car seats two passengers and features amazing exterior looks. The concept car is powered by a lithium-ion battery that powers its electric engines. The car is not designed for speed performances, and in this case do not expect high speed or long-distance driving range as the car uses just 3 wheels.

Brontes three-wheeled vehicle with zero emissions

According to its designer, the car measures 2, 7 meters in length, 1, 8 meters in width and 1, 34 meters in height. Thanks to its electric engine, the Brontes car features a silent cruising.

The Audi A5 Cabriolet is being launched with three gasoline engines and two diesel engines ranging between 132 kW (180 hp) and 195 kW (265 hp). All five power plants are fueled via direct fuel injection; four of them use turbocharging. Available powertrains include a six-speed manual, the continuously variable multitronic and the new, lightning-fast seven-speed S tronic. In addition to front-wheel drive, Audi also offers quattro permanent all-wheel drive for the higher-power engines. The innovative sport differential, which variably distributes power between the rear wheels, is optionally available for even greater dynamics and driving pleasure.

As with the A4 sedan, the new cabriolet’s full-frame grille finally seems natural, perhaps because it’s complemented by such interesting headlights with their jewellike LED running lights. The rear of the new car is also distinctive, featuring broad taillights, a spoiler on the trunk and an aero diffuser in a contrasting color to the bodywork, plus you can even get LED-type taillights when you choose the optional xenon HID headlights.

The A5 Cabriolet’s cabin likely will be as snug and inviting as that in the A5 Coupe. For the convertible edition, Audi fits a 50/50 split-folding rear seat for access to the small trunk. Safety features on the 2010 Audi A5 Cabriolet and S5 Cabriolet include dual front and side airbags, as well as anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control.

Electric cars

October 6th, 2009

Since middle of 19th century and early 20th century electric cars enjoyed popularity, when electricity was among the preferred methods for automobile propulsion, providing a level of comfort and ease of operation that could not be achieved by the gasoline cars of the time. A small-scale electric car was designed by Professor Stratingh of Groningen, Holland, and built by his assistant Christopher Becker in 1835.
What is an electric car?

One of the answers could be – an electric car is an alternative fuel automobile that uses electric motors and motor controllers for propulsion, in place of more common propulsion methods such as the internal combustion engine. Electric cars are a specifically a variety of electric vehicle intended for use as a road-going automobile. Electric cars are commonly powered by on-board battery packs, and as such are battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Other on-board energy storage methods that are expected to come into use in the future include ultracapacitors, or a spinning flywheel, which stores energy as kinetic energy.

Because oil resources are becoming increasingly rare and oil prices rise, major automobile manufacturers are beginning to investments in green projects, in their cars to function with as little fuel or, at best case, cars that work with electricity. In this article we present electric cars.

Mercedes-Benz will build an electrically powered version of its upcoming SLS gullwing coupe. The EV version of the SLS will drive all four wheels by means of an individual motor for each corner. It will not however use wheel hub motors, since those add too much unsprung mass. The motors will be mounted just inboard of the suspension components.

The zero-emission supercar, tentatively named the SLS AMG eDrive, will feature four electric motors with a combined output of 392 kW (526 hp) and 880 Nm (649 lb-ft) of torque. This will enable the electric SLS to rocket from 0-100 km/h in around 4 seconds, which puts it on par with the standard 6.3-liter (6208cc) V8 powered (571 hp and 650 Nm) SLS that accomplishes the same task in 3.8 seconds.
No range is being quoted at this time, but given that the battery capacity is lower than the Tesla Roadster and the car is larger, it will likely be well under 200 miles. No timeline for the electric version is being quoted, although earlier rumors placed it at 2015.
